If you haven’t upgraded to Vista yet (like me), The Register says “Microsoft is running an unadvertised sale on Windows Vista. For the price of an upgrade edition requiring an existing copy of Windows, anyone can have a stand-alone version of Vista that will run on any PC. Indeed, the upgrade editions are full versions, simply waiting to be told to install themselves regardless of what OS is currently on the system, if any. The trick is all in how you interact with the setup program”.

Does anyone besides an overzealous prosecutor really think that these stupid things are hoax devices? Now that there are arrests in this ridiculousness I’m actually pissed off. Yes, they alarmed people who are easily alarmed thanks to the post-911 climate that the Government has created. Still, for God’s sake, are we going to freak out every time someone leaves plastic somewhere?

If your company deems you “important” enough to have a Pocket PC or Palm device, or you just need the newest gadget yesterday and plan to get the Apple iPhone even if it means turning tricks, then you just missed out on having the next best thing. A guy developed an iPhone skin for your pocket PC, but Apple sent him a cease & desist letter. For Palm aficionados, check out here.

Joel Veitch (he of rathergood.com) has a band (7 Seconds of Love). A video was made for the song “Ninja” that was then co-opted by Coca-Cola of Argentina for an advertisement. Watch Joel and Pat from the band discuss this on Sky News.

I took the day off today as it’s my birthday. Yay for me! The only thing I did today site-wise was to add a fancy schmancy plugin that makes the site easily readable if you happen to come here using a Nintendo Wii. Hey, us dorks know that browsing the web on your tv is fun for at least 5 minutes. Happy New Year and all that jazz! See you on Tuesday.

In my search for interesting podcasts (a hard thing to find it seems), I’ve recently found a good resource of public radio podcasts.

After much hassling, I finally got my old archive data back (4,437 posts!). They are now on this server so all should be back to normal. I have zero interest in going back through that many posts adding them to categories, so only newer posts will get that honor. Ok, that’s the update. Thanks for reading!

November 12th marks the 6th anniversary of The Ultimate Insult. I’ve been a bit more lax in the posts and wasn’t even sure if I would continue the site, but I do like posting random crap, so here we are. This is probably the 5th or 6th time I’ve redesigned the site, but this is the first time all of my previous posts haven’t made the trip. My former webhost, Dreamhost, has been having some trouble actually keeping my sites online lately, and now I can’t even log in to my server there. After 3 days without any response whatsoever, I have moved on to a new host. This leaves all of my old posts over there, locked away until they either get back to me or the situation magically fixes itself. Personally, I’m not holding my breath. The only big change here aside from the fresh start is that I am going to attempt to use categories. This should make browsing the archives 5 years from now a bit easier. Ok, I’ve talked enough. On with take II.
