Powerset, a new yet-to-be-released natural language search engine just posted their work on “parsing and indexing…the hardest corpus [they] could find: Miss South Carlolina’s response to the question, ‘Recent polls have shown that a fifth of Americans can’t locate the US on a map. Why do you think this is?’ ”
If you are curious about Powerset, here are some Powerset news clippings

You Can Get Arrested for That!? is a book that showcases a crime spree across the United States. The website has lots of goodies, including pictures of one member committing the shocking crime of fishing in his pajamas while in Chicago.

I can’t vouch that all of these 15 Unfortunately Placed Ads are legitimate, but I have to tell myself they are. The Jesus/cat one is a classic.

One of my favorite comics, Cyanide and Happiness keeps delivering entertainment every day. Some not safe for work or the easily offended.

Get your daily fix of Passive-Aggressive Notes left by “roommates, neighbors, coworkers and strangers”. Good stuff.

Why can’t America have game shows as fun as this? Forget asking trivia, I want human Tetris!

It was a sad day when House of Cosby’s was removed after Bill Cosby’s folks got up in arms, but they’re back and on a cable network no less. Watch the first installment of “Kosbees”.

This Is Broken, a weblog that points out things (mainly advertising) that aren’t quite right. A few are just from submitters that are overly picky, but some are quite funny.

Totally absurd inventions and patents. There really are some lame ones in here.

I didn’t realize Google Maps did intercontinental route mapping. If you map New York to Norway you’ll get a handy 39 step schedule, although step 23 might prove a bit difficult if you’re out of shape.

The Absolute Bottom 50 Punk Bands according to Chickenhead. I don’t know, I kind of like The Excrementals, McBono and the AIDS and Fauxhawk Frenzy.

According to On the Media, the soon to be “Terror Channel” will be airing this generation’s “Hogan’s Heroes”, called Jihad to Go There. From what I heard about it, I’d much rather watch that over “Heil Honey I’m Home!“.
Well, got to go…it’s April 1st! ;-P

I’m (Paul) off to Madrid and Sicily later in April. I was checking to see what the new carry-on regulations are and FRAK (yes, I’m a Battlestar fan- not to be confused with geek, dork etc), are they messed up. So, based on what we cannot bring on the plane, here are some shockers: small scissors, Screwdrivers/Wrenches/Pliers (seven inches or less in length), Corkscrews, Cuticle Cutters, Bug sprays/repellents and Aerosol spray bottles/cans? And thank god I can bring my Toy Transformer Robots (listed under Makeup & Personal Items and Medication & Special Needs Devices)

I have a rough copy of Turkish Star Wars but found a better one on Google Video. This version has English subtitles and I’m not sure if I like it more with or without. If you’ve never seen the ridiculousness that is this movie then you have to at least flip to the fight scenes. The download link on Free Movies Cinema isn’t currently working, but I’m hoping for a fix. The sites that let you download Google Videos never seem to work well for me.
