   You’re right, Daniel.

   He mentioned feeling a little like a rubbernecker at an accident gawping at the scene- probably hoping for some sort of human carnage.

   Chernobyl provides a sort of fascination. Most of us, I suppose, will have forgotten about much of it. Those of us who were thousands of kilometres away and thus not directly affected by it will almost see it as an historical event only- not an ongoing issue that mean the area is uninhabitable and will continue to be so for a long, long time to come.
