The Ultimate Insult

Falsely Accused

The headline to this story pretty much says it all: “Falsely accused woman freed after 70 years”. That’s seven followed by a zero.

I read somewhere ages ago of some poor sod in India who had been jailed for muder for around 40 years for a murder he didn’t commit. The actual killer was caught many years later, but the first guy didn’t have the resources to get the case reviewed and was still in jail.

This case in England probably trumps that.

    This isn’t an insult. it’s a travesty!
I cannot imagine the terrible, uncaring inaction taken after destroying someone’s life
I can only guess that the horror of this deed was avoided because of the inhumanity wrought by those involved.
In cases like this, those who have an iota of their involvement try to remove themselves from this un-imaginable suffering because their own secret admission to thier part in this terrible deed could make it impossible to live with themselves, and are in constant dread that they might finally be discovered.
