The 30th Anniversary of Punk

August 30th, 2007

Time Magazine claims it’s the 30th Anniversary of Punk. I’m not sure that’s true at all, but the photos used are worth checking out for Ramones and Sex Pistols fans.

First punk albums were all released in ‘77 so how is that not the anniversary?

Because there were punk bands releasing records before then.Television, The Stooges, the first Ramones album (1976), The Buzzcocks “Spiral Scratch” (1976)… 1977 is the go-to year because a lot of good and/or influential bands came out in the press then, it’s not the first year of punk though.

Oh okay then… surprised you missed the Damned though, and the Stooges?
So we missed the anniversary then? Better set our alarms for 2016.

My generation! As always it will come back.
