ABC “masters of scifi”

ABC just began showing their “masters of science fiction“, with each episode introduced and narrated by Stephen Hawking. The one and only review that they have on the show’s website is from the “Cleveland Plain Dealer“. Cleveland as the best review they could find? That said, you have been severely warned before you watch this show. And yes, they did misspell Cleveland in the below screen shot.

They also clearly don’t know how to punctuate; what’s up with those bizarro quotation marks?

Somebody told me they saw one episode (which Sam Waterson and Judy Davis appeared) and that it was pretty good (and really out there.) I still can’t imagine Stephen Hawking narrating. Not thinking it must sound hilarious, but rather bizarre. Oh, well, it IS a sci-fi show.

i saw the first episode (i posted the above too) with waterson/davis. it was lukewarm. Reminiscent of the newer outter limits and the new newer twilight zone with forest whitaker. the plot was not so “out there” to make it interesting, but i’ll probably check it out again. what else am i doing on a sat. night…Hawking’s voice is just a sad gimmick. it coul obviosuly be any futuristic-sounding robotic voice

I watched the first ep, too, but the denounement seemed overwrought and strange. I did like Waterston and Davis, though.

yeah, the denouement was typical of poorly executed scifi, espeically TV shows. They tried to be smarter than was necessary
